Danny Miller Welcomes a New Direction for Aaron and John on Emmerdale

Danny Miller is welcoming a much-needed shift in the storyline for his character, Aaron Dingle, and his murderous husband, John Sugden. The Emmerdale star says he is excited for viewers to see that Aaron is finally starting to catch on to John’s sinister ways, a moment fans have been waiting for.

Up until now, Aaron has been completely oblivious to the fact that his husband is a killer, despite the growing pile of evidence. But in upcoming scenes, Aaron’s suspicions are finally aroused by John’s shifty behavior. In a shocking turn of events, the manipulative medic decides to spike his own husband to keep him under control, setting the stage for a dramatic and dangerous confrontation.

While the situation is undoubtedly dicey for Aaron, Miller believes it’s a necessary change. He says he often gets stopped by fans who express frustration over his character’s blindness. “A lot of people stop me in the streets and say things like, ‘how are you not spotting the signs?'” he said.

Love is Blind

2 11zon 1

Miller explained that he has played Aaron as a man blinded by love for the past six months, which explains why he hasn’t been suspicious of John. “I think love is blind, is what I’ve played for the last six months of watching John crumble under all this spotlight and pressure,” he shared. “And Aaron’s just kind of going, ‘I don’t know what you mean, he’s great! I love him!'”

He is glad that Aaron will finally get to share the same suspicions and frustration as the viewers. “So, it’s nice that Aaron can finally become one of the viewers, or that of an opinion of the viewers,” he said. “They get to share in this hatred of John.”

Interestingly, Miller was quick to praise his co-star, Oliver Farnworth, who plays the villainous John. “It’s just so strange to say because Oliver Farnworth is the nicest man I’ve ever met and I don’t say that lightly! I just love him. He’s just been great.”

A Grim and Dangerous Plot

1 11zon 1

The plot surrounding John Sugden has become one of Emmerdale’s darkest and most-watched storylines. The medic’s most recent victim was Mackenzie Boyd, whose supposed death sent shockwaves through the village. The episode showing Mackenzie’s demise was so brutal that it drew a large number of complaints from viewers, yet it also became a viral hit.

The episode became the most-viewed full episode on the soap’s official YouTube page since it began releasing episodes on the platform earlier this summer. This surge in popularity proves that despite the controversy, audiences are captivated by the gritty realism of the show.

With Aaron now on to John, the storyline is about to become even more dangerous. As the truth about John’s murderous rampage comes to light, the stakes for Aaron and the entire village have never been higher.
